BEIJING BASKET CRUNCHERS

In July of 2003, I arrived in Beijing for a four-week consulting assignment. Timing of events resulted in the folks who would normally assist a new arrival being out of town.
With phrase book in hand, I set off to explore the neighborhood around my apartment. I quickly found a nearby, seasonal da pai dang, which is a sort of outdoor food court or beer garden. After several minutes of unsuccessfully trying to order a bottle of cold water, the woman who was trying to take my order hollered to a young lady who came over and very clearly said, "May I help you?"... I nearly fell out of my chair.
Well, to make a long story shorter.. the young lady was the daughter of the woman who had been trying, unsuccessfully, to take my order, and... well, that family "adopted" me and got me through my first weeks in Beijing, China. The picture above is myself and Sharon with the Wang Family.
Getting ready to head back to the USA around Xmas time with a pile of computer goodies. Some of this stuff is the beginnings of the Texas Cruncher basket stack DC farm, pictured elsewhere on the website.
At our advanced research and development facility in the Republic of Texas (Central) the basket cruncher technology soon began to incorporate new innovations and a modular design, surpassing this early, pioneering work in China.
